Now hiring entry level Glass Handlers (Production Technician) for a highly technical glass manufacturer in Los Angeles, CA. **NO PRIOR GLASS EXPERINCE NEEDED** Full-time: Graveyard shift (Monday- Friday/12am-8:30am) +.50 shift differential Swing shift (Monday-Friday/4:00pm-12:30am) Morning shift (Sunday-Thursday/8:00am-4:30pm) Part-time: Graveyard shift (Monday- Friday/12am-5am) +.50 shift differential ***Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen, pre-employment physical, pre-employment background check, and have a high school diploma or GED.*** Benefits including medical and dental eligibility after 30 days of employment. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable qualified individual with disabilities to perform essential functions Essential Functions Statement(s) • Read production schedules to determine items to be cut, tempered, and/or shipped, based on work station assigned • Convey lites of glass from cutting table to edge deletion conveyors, from edge deletion conveyors to washer and furnace load bed, from offload conveyor to packing racks/frames, depending on work station assigned. • Cutting Table: Break out cut-to-size (scored) lites of glass from large plates. Remove pieces from cutting table and place on Ashton conveyor for seaming and edge deletion. Remove scrap pieces of glass from cutting table and dispose of in designated scrap glass hoppers. • Tempering: Position lites of glass on washer conveyors in preparation of furnace tempering. Monitor furnace temperatures and make adjustments as needed based on ambient temperature and glass type/thickness. Conduct break pattern tests on test pieces of glass with every glass thickness change to ensure compliance with state and federal codes. Clean out broken glass from furnace and quench as needed. • Offload/Packing: Remove tempered lites of glass from offload conveyor. Check customer label and place lite on designated rack or A-frame. Prepare complete racks/A-frames for shipment. Ensure all required paperwork is attached to rack/A-frame prior to staging for shrink wrapping and shipment. • All employees assigned to the above work stations may be required to rotate from station to station as needed. • All employees are required to wear the designated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for the workstation assigned, follow all plant safety rules, and are responsible for keeping the assigned workstation clean, orderly, and free of trash and debris. • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read a tape measure proficiently to 1/16th of an inch. WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, and raw and tempered glass.
