Description

Thank you for the kind messages that everyone left about Harriet. We saw her again Wed (and fed her) - the cyst popped! It looked ugly, but we sent the pics to a vet and he said it was actually a good thing b/c now we know from the looks of it that it IS the kind of cysts squirrels get when they're having babies and not Squirrel Pox, a tooth abscess or cancer. Now we just have to keep an eye on her. We'll keep feeding her and her kits, of course. Thank you for your help! _____________________ ORIGINAL POST: We have a beautiful neighborhood squirrel named Harriet - who is so gentle, she eats out of our hands! We love Harriet so much. She had three babies about 6 weeks ago and they are in a Palm tree on our block. When Harriet had them, she started growing a cyst on the side of her neck - apparently common for squirrels, esp. when they pregnant. We didn't want to take her away from her "kits" so we waited and kept feeding Harriet, but the cyst got larger. Finally, after calling A DOZEN Animal Hospitals, we found one that can fix Harriet... and I bought a Pet Carrier... and Harriet is nowhere to be found! I am so sad. The little babies have not come down from the Palm tree either, and it is about three stories tall. I need to borrow a Drone with video cameras to look around that Palm tree and see what's going on - maybe our Little Harriet is up there?? Can you help? I don't need to actually "borrow" your equipment - you are more than welcome to operate it. I work from home and we can do this nearly anytime, though I think daylight is going to be the most revealing. Thank you, thank you. We appreciate you. Harriet and her three kits, Mango, Pistachio and Walnut (the male) thank you.
