Job Description Gorman's Home Furnishings has immediate openings for Home Delivery Helpers. The Delivery Helper position is responsible for assisting the driver in the delivery of home furnishings to the customer's home or business. The helper also helps keep the truck orderly and assists the driver with navigation when needed. A familiarity with the Detroit Metropolitan Areas and have a clean driving record are required. Experience moving and delivering furniture is preferred but not necessary! Applicants will be required to pass a background screening, a pre-employment physical, and drug screen. Experience with the operation of a 26' straight truck Ability to meet all DOT requirements Ability to estimate delivery times bases on customer location, furniture load, and assembly requirements Ability to safely load furniture for secure transport Good mechanical aptitude and ability to assemble product being delivered Ability to handle the paperwork and keep track of delivery paperwork, trip sheets, and other reports as needed Ability to safely lift and maneuver furniture in excess of 100 pounds into tight or awkward spaces with minimum damage to the furniture or customer's home or business Ability to maintain polite, respectful demeanor, and good customer relations in spite of possible customer dissatisfaction.
