Incredibly sweet cat free to good home

Description

Catniss is an incredibly sweet, small, active, older female cat of unknown age in need of a loving home through no fault of her own. She is grey with white markings and a milk mustache. Catniss was rehabilitated after being found near death after being dumped in the Chicago area a few years back. Unfortunately she lost vision in one of her eyes to an infection she had when she was found. During the pandemic she has lost vision in her remaining eye, but she has adapted incredibly well and is very mobile and active and you wouldn’t immediately recognize she is blind. She eats either canned or dry food well, allows you to pick her up, enjoys sitting by you and being cradled like a baby and will nap like that, seems to enjoy the radio, and loves to play with a variety of toys (especially ones with catnip or that make sound like bells, or high-contrast fabric ribbons). She is litter trained, well-behaved, doesn’t damage furniture, is cooperative with nail trimming, and doesn’t scratch. She loves the outdoors but cannot be there alone anymore due to her vision, but she very much enjoys sitting on the window sill with the window open, and walks outside in her harness and leash. When I return home she is always waiting for me by the door or hopping down the stairs to greet me, and often she will follow me from room to room. She likes to listen to you talk to her. She gets along well with dogs and other cats, but if they harass her she will (generally unsuccessfully) try to defend herself. Some cats may not get along with her, because she is blind she can’t see them or their body language well, and may inadvertently cross boundaries or enter their personal space, resulting in more territorial cats being prone to bully her. Some dogs may be fine, the biggest concern would be a hyper larger dog trampling her. She used to spend more time by herself, but I think since going blind she feels the need for company more, and I’m not sure she’d be happy being home alone all day regularly. I think her ideal home would be a relatively calm household where someone is usually home for much of the day, such as a work-from-home situation. She would be a fantastic match for an elder or elder couple. I am not asking anything for her, I just want to see her go to a great home. Unfortunately, one of my cats has decided that she can’t stand her and despite all efforts made including medication, she continues to bully Catniss. My other cat’s health is suffering from the stress to the point that she bolted from the house and was missing for a week. I’ve done everything I can to remedy the situation but this just isn’t working out for all involved and Catniss deserves a home where she can feel safe and be happy. If you are interested in her, please let me know and some details of your home situation or why you think you’d be a good match. Thanks for reading!
