Pomykala Farm is hiring for the 2021 growing season! Come be part of a fun work environment, working outdoors with dedicated owner-operators and crew. Learn the practical skills that are useful in any gardening or farming operation. Our farm is 70 acres on Lake Champlain, and has been growing produce for wholesale and retail markets since 1977. Hiring for three positions, immediate openings: Farm Crew This position focuses on the crops – seeding, transplanting, weeding, harvest, washing and packing. Work as a crew in the greenhouses, fields and packinghouse. No experience necessary. This position includes hard physical labor, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working outdoors in all conditions except extreme weather events. Full time, part time, and early evening shifts available. Our work day starts at 7am. Starting hourly wage $15/hr. Mechanic & Farm Hand This position will focus on maintenance, repair and operation of farm machinery, including tractors, trucks, small engine mowers and farm implements. Working knowledge of basic shop tools is preferred, as well as a curiosity for problem solving. There is opportunity to learn welding, fabrication, construction, and engine repair. Depending on the time of year, some fieldwork will be required as well. Part time and full time will be considered. We will train! Hourly wage commensurate with experience. Young Farmers Crew This position is for teens 14 – 17 who want to work on a farm. This is a part-time position that will focus on field work in the mornings. Young Farmers will have direct supervision by management. No experience necessary. Positions are available from May – August.
