POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for the polishing of all stone and quartz products, blending seams, touchup work on profiles and easing profile edges that will meet or exceed company standards. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. When tops are received from fabrication for routing the polisher is to verify that all the correct edges have been pre-ground and prepared for routing. 2. Route all edges and when complete return tops to fabrication for final grinding. 3. When tops are received from fabrication for polishing the polisher is to verify that all edges have been ground and are ready for polishing. 4. Once all pieces for a particular job are completed the polishers will stage jobs on a frames in the finished goods area including the back splashes. 5. All edges are to be polished wet whether using sand paper or polishing pads. There is to be NO dry polishing unless specifically approved by the supervisor. 6. Clean up and maintenance of the polishing area is the responsibility of the polishers as well as maintaining the air polishers and any other tools used. 7. Condition of the polishers should be monitored and serviced as needed to extend the life of the tools. All polishing tools should be oiled at the beginning of the day as well as at the middle (before lunch) and at the end of the day as this will extend the lifespan of the air vane bearings. 8. Examines workpiece visually, by touch, or using tape rule, or gauges to ensure product meets desired standards. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: 1. At least one year experience polishing of solid surface product. 2. Close attention to detail and quality. 3. Knowledge of working with granite, marble sandstone, tile and other interior finish products. 4. Excellent understanding of and adherence to all safety policies.
