Heavy Equipment Operator Description of Position A person in this position has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in the field around various types of heavy equipment. The HEO works alongside the designated supervisor to keep the project moving forward, and to meet various checkpoints and goals. This position will tend to move from job to job, and reports directly to the on-site manage. The HEO must show confidence and proficiency in general equipment operations, equipment safety, preventative maintenance, and overall common sense. Strong customer service skills are a must. This is a full-time position with a pay range of $18-$28 per hour. Daily Responsibilities (General) • Good attitude - Show up daily ready to work, learn, and teach • Attendance - Be on time • Maintain personal safety with issued PPE. Keep others safe. • Have a strong work ethic, and show and eagerness to learn/improve • Listen – Follow instructions, ask questions • Properly clock in/out of jobs – Ensure subordinates are clocking in correctly • Able to carry out tasks/assignments with minimal supervision and efficiency • Show mentorship and lead by example • Follow chain of command • Interact with clients and homeowners • Ensure preparedness of self and reporting crew members. (Adequate PPE, water, etc.) • Expected to work in extreme weather conditions • Must be willing to lift 50lbs repeatedly Daily Responsibilities (Discipline Specific) • Must be able to properly/safely secure equipment to trailer • Must be able to tow heavy loads safely, and with common sense • Oversee thorough pre-trip inspections of ALL equipment (Fuel levels, oil, filters, etc) • Understands lock out/tagout system and utilizes as needed • Strong experience in multitude of construction equipment • Must be able to fine/finish grade as needed • Must be able to read/interpret grade stakes • Strong desire to improve technical knowledge to training/classes • Oversee small projects/assignments as needed • Maintain clear/concise/accurate work orders • Oversee material ordering • Develop/implement plans to fulfill project needs • Strong communication skills • Partake in the planning/logistical process to ensure assignment success. • Provide quality control efforts at every step of project or task • Ensure completed product is in line with EarthX’s expectations and quality • Strong passion for mentorship and teaching Requirements • Must be hard working, and show an eagerness to learn and improve • Must have reliable transportation to and from job sites • Must be 18 years or older • Must have valid INSURABLE driver’s license • Must have smart phone to utilize email and other communication APPS • Must be able to run a crew of individuals with minimal supervision • CDL preferred, but NOT required
