Land Surveyor (Instrument Person/Junior Chief) (Entry level positions for the right candidate may be available. *This position is an outdoor position exposed to the elements. Heat, cold, rain, sun, dirt and sand may be the work environment at any time and may require long periods of physical exertion. Responsibilities and Duties Reports for work at 6:50 AM each workday. Performs rod technician position duties and trains new rod technicians. Learns how to use field instruments and maintains instruments in good working order. Operates all field instruments including levels, Theodolites and EDM's. Operates a calculator for various survey applications. Performs checking procedure for field information -- peg-check a level, circle enclosure, double angles, and double center point, etc. Performs Basic First Aid when required. Comprehends, and follows the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) safety manual. Inscribes basic field notes including level notes. Runs all data collection data. Monitors project-related, on-site issues and provides input for production improvement. Participates in continuing education classes identified as important to improve skills or to keep current on industry issues. Assists in training rod technicians to accurately measure with a steel tape, level rod and prism pole and set up a tripod. Supervises field crew on an as-needed basis during absence of Field Supervisor or Party Chief. Qualifications and Skills Candidate must have a minimum of 3 years' experience and must have a clean driving record. Required experience: Construction Staking & As built Surveys Residential and Commercial Surveys Metes and Bounds and Sectional Boundary Surveys ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys Boundary and Topographic Surveys Data Collection Files / Field Notes Preferred Qualifications & Experience: Proficient with Total Stations, Robotic Instruments and GPS Systems Proficient with Carlson Data Collectors AutoCAD experience a plus Email resume to: [email protected]
