JOB TITLE: Field Technician Locally-owned and operated waste management firm is seeking to fill a full-time field technician position. No experience needed. We will provide training for highly motivated individuals. Preference will be given to those candidates who possess a commercial driver’s license or have previous hazmat or hazwaste experience. Knowledge in how to safely operate hand tools, forklift, and light equipment is a plus. Having a science degree is also a plus. Employee must possess the necessary knowledge, education, experience, physical abilities, and communication skills to perform the duties described below: • Generally responsible for field activities related to waste management operations. • Coordinate work with Manager, Supervisor, and co-workers. Activities require frequent contact with clients, the public, government officials, and other agencies. • Interact with customer regarding job status, client requirements, and assures customer satisfaction • Labels, markings and manifest shipments in accordance with applicable EPA and DOT regulations and company policies, practices and procedures. • Loads shipment on and off of trucks safely and compliantly. • Safely transport hazardous & non-hazardous waste while operating company vehicles. • Obeys all traffic laws and regulations while operating and driving company vehicle. Wears personal protective equipment as required by ETC, DOT, OSHA, and customer regulations. • Immediately reports all releases, accidents, near misses, and injuries involving employee or others while operating company vehicles/equipment to the Supervisor/Manager. • Verifies that the load, tools, equipment, and materials are secured properly before transporting begins. • Use powered and manual tools properly and safely. • Be able to travel frequently. • Current driving record cannot contain any offences that would prevent obtaining a commercial driver’s license. • Must be in good physical health with no pre-existing conditions that prevent the use of a respirator or personal protective equipment needed for field operations. • Pass an occupational physical and drug screen. • Use good judgment to safely perform duties. • Self-motivated and use judgment for setting priorities and meeting deadlines. • Good interpersonal/communication skills for working with a diversity of people. • Must maintain a sense of responsibility and confidentiality. • Maintain a professional and friendly disposition. • Lift heavy objects (40 pounds). • Perform all other duties as needed.
