(WSI) Title: Lead Pool-Hot Tub Technician Department: Whitefish Mountain Resort Lodging (WMRL) Level: Full Time Regular (FTR), Hourly FLSA: Non-Exempt Effective Date: April 2021 General Duties: The Lead Spa technician’s objective is to provide guests a clean, safe experience when using spas and pools and to maintain spa and pool equipment in a manner that will protect and maintain the property owner’s investment. The department office is in the Wood Shop building. Job Relationships: • Reports to: Plant Manager and indirectly to the WMRL lead building mechanic. • Employee Supervised: Will help oversee two winter Spa Technician I’s Job Specifications: • High School graduate or GED equivalent. • Possess or ability to obtain Montana Certified Pool Operator certification. • Minimum 2 years experience with electrical, plumbing and spas preferred. • Demonstrated ability and application of the basic knowledge in the repair of mechanical components, plumbing fixtures, and electrical devices. • Ability to troubleshoot electrical contactors, flow switches, thermostat controls, pressure switches and chemical feeders, gas pool boilers and their components, proficiently using electrical meters and gas testing tools. • Knowledge of pool chemicals, chemical safety and water testing procedures. • Must possess a valid driver's license and be authorized for WSI vehicle insurance coverage. • Must be self starter and able to work independently with little supervision. • Must be able to provide every guest with a high level of customer service at all times with a courteous and helpful manner. • Must be able to work with a diverse group of people and be able to remain calm and professional in handling a variety of tasks and stressful situations. • Must be able to work within the framework of the company and department policies and procedures as set forth in the employee manuals including appearance standards. • Demonstrate ability to cross sell other departments and businesses at the resort, and to effectively communicate that information to our guests. Specific Duties: • Daily water testing of all spas and pools to Montana State Health standards and Flathead County Health Department requirements. • Daily record keeping of all operating spas and pools to comply with Montana State Health standards and Flathead County Health Department requirements. • Daily cleaning of tub walls, bottoms of tubs, pool walls, pool bottom and surrounding areas, to be free of litter. Empty trash cans and supply new bags as needed. • Daily communication with the Lodging Front Desk staff in regards to the operation, changes or in operation of specific tubs or pools. (Facilities closed or delayed openings for specific reasons or times). • Daily maintenance and cleanliness of spa/pool vehicle. • Daily: Possess and communicate via UHF radio. • Daily reading of company email communication. • Post and maintain all state required signs and clocks. • Annually (often in the fall) coordinate spa and pool inspections with Flathead County Health Department inspector. • Keep owner’s files current with all equipment maintenance performed, listing of equipment model numbers, serial numbers, voltages and capacities and update all hot tub information. • Legibly label piping flow directions, valves to their purpose and electrical equipment and components for easy identification. And ease of training new staff. • Schedule and ensure annual backflow preventer testing and maintain records. • Develop and follow preventive maintenance program for all managed pools and hot tubs. • Coordinate technical pool/spa needs (electrical, plumbing, mechanical repairs)/ building construction or demolition with other building mechanics in department. • Maintains a parts inventory of most frequently needed parts, including stocking spa chemicals and assessing annual needs for budgeting purposes. • Supply new property owners with the appropriate information needed to operate hot tubs in accordance with Flathead Health Department design standards. • Decommissioning and removal of old spas. • Selecting and installation of new spas. • Training, scheduling and job assignments of winter Spa Technician 1’s. • Attend and participate in departmental safety meetings and ensure Spa Technician 1’s are meeting all safety procedures. • Obtain billable (revenue generating) work from spa maintenance. • Winter shoveling of hot tub deck areas and covers. De-icing areas for safe foot travel. Safety & Wellness: It will be the responsibility of all team members to ensure that our internal & external guests enjoy a safe and risk free environment. All team members must be on constant alert for any unsafe conditions and work behaviors. This will involve, but not be limited to, periodic inspections of work and public areas. Follow up notification will be done to correct the condition or practice at the earliest possible opportunity Work Environment: • Moderate physical activity required by handling objects up to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally. • Maintenance duties will require individuals to bend, climb, stoop, and shovel frequently on a daily basis. • Ability to be on one’s feet for extended time periods up to 6 hours daily. • Ability to perform maintenance tasks in small spaces and awkward body posture on a regular basis. • Fire training, basic first-aid and CPR training will be on-going as part of this job. • Drive company vehicles in the performance of daily duties and maintain proper fluid levels. • Flexibility in schedule changes on short notice is required. • Job may require working weekends, holidays and overtime during peak demand times. • Ability to work under varying weather conditions, often extreme in nature. • Non-smoking environment.
