Laborer - Grading/Pipe Team

To complete various laborer and small equipment operation tasks on grading and pipe crews. This position requires travel to various projects throughout MN and ND. This is a full time-seasonal position. Hours and durations vary based on workload and weather conditions. DUTIES AND/OR RESPONSIBILITIES • Safely perform labor tasks including any of the following: • Operate demolition saw on pavements, sidewalks, and curbs. • Measures distance from grade stakes, drive stakes & stretch tight line. • Operate laser level. • Signals operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications. • Levels earth using pick or shovel. • Hook up and join various types of pipe (concrete, pvc, steel) • Safely rig various items for picking such as pipe, structures, etc. • Raise manhole castings. • Mix grout and seal inverts and castings. • Roll geotextile fabric in front of earth moving equipment. • Operate and maintain water pumps to ensure continuous dewatering activities. • Clean and organize job trailer daily following work shift. • Install and move traffic control devices in conformity with provide traffic control manual. (must be able to comprehend layouts) • Performs flagging duties as needed. • May operate small powered hand tools. • May operate small equipment including bobcat, tractor, or roller or move from one site to another. • Safely and properly perform maintenance (lubricating, fueling and cleaning) and operate small equipment, such as bobcat, tractor, jackhammer, roller, pickup truck, air compressor, tractor/packer, steel drum or rubber tire roller. • Hook up and un hook small trailer to pick-up. • Able to operate skid steer for clean-up of materials. • Ability to work productively once given instruction without constant supervision is essential. • Communicate effectively (verbal, listening, written) and work with difficult people under high stress situations. Self-motivated, team-player with good interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations & act courteous/respectful of others.
