ABOUT PLEIN AIR PAINTING With a mindful approach to plein air essentials, Guided workshops take place at various locations this spring. ABOUT PLEIN AIR PAINTING Painting “en plein air” is perhaps the most inspiring way to learn and grow as an artist. Guided workshops teach practical techniques while working with a limited palette in beautiful natural settings. We will study composition, light, shadow, and atmosphere, beginning with a thumbnail drawing before moving on to color. ABOUT THE WORKSHOPS• Open to adults (ages 18+)• Each session is limited to 10 students and will follow social distancing guidelines.• Standing easels will be available to each student for use during class.• Supplies such as paints, canvas, brushes and comfort items like lawn chairs, tables are not included.• Suggested supply list will be sent upon class registration.• Instruction is focused on oil and acrylic painting techniques, but students are welcome to use the medium of their choice.• Series will change locations monthly and are open to all students 18+ who elect to participate. ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR: Susan Gatti is a multi-disciplinary artist whose work includes oil and acrylic paintings, filmmaking and figure sculpting. Her paintings range from plein air landscapes to figurative studio work . With a practical approach to plein air essentials, Susan shares her knowledge and interests in light, movement, shadow and atmosphere and guides participants on the fundamentals of establishing a winning composition, mixing a full range of color using a limited palette and demonstrates application techniques. All levels welcome. Plein air workshops are offered on a limited basis in spring, summer and fall. Sign up today. CLASS SCHEDULE: $50 per session. 3hrs Session 1.
