QUESTION ABOUT BUYING A USED LAPTON

I am not a computer person. The computer I have now is a OLD MacBook Pro that I got used YEARS ago. It no longer does much. I’ve only been using it for my iTunes/iPod. The only thing I really will be using it for would be going online, my iTunes/iPod, moving pictures from my phone, downloading music. I’ve found a couple decent looking used laptops already. I just don’t know really what brands or specs I should looking for. I am really only looking to spend $100.-$300. I seen some YouTube videos of people getting a old Lenovo Thinkpad for cheap and upgrading it so it basically better than a new computer. One of the used computers I seen is a older Thinkpad that’s already pretty much upgraded.
