Sakuma Bros. is part of the family-owned farming and processing operation spanning four generations with over 85 years of experience in the small fruit industry. Home based in Burlington, WA, the company is located in the premier berry growing area of the Pacific Northwest. The berry processing operations engages in packing, marketing, sales, and distribution of fresh and frozen berries grown by the Sakuma family as well as many area growers, for both the domestic and international markets. We are seeking a Seasonal Sprayer Operator/Mixer for the 2021 harvest season (May- Oct) who is highly motivated, energetic individuals and enjoy working outdoors, to join our Farm team! GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Mix or apply pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, or insecticides through sprays, dusts, vapors, soil incorporation or chemical application on trees, or shrubs. Maintains spray equipment including preventive maintenance and minor repair; oversees compliance with label requirements; orders and may issue controlled pesticides; keeps records, prepares, and maintains reports regarding control and use of pesticides; responsible for the safe storage and use of pesticides in conformance with all regulations. EDUCATION & TRAINING: • Applicator Certification • Valid WA state driver’s license KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: • Tractor driving experience. • Filling sprayer tanks with water and chemicals, according to formulas. • Applying knowledge of weather conditions, droplet sizes, elevation-to-distance ratios, and obstructions. • Mixing pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides for application. • Starting motors and engage machinery, such as sprayer agitators and pumps or portable spray equipment. • Clean and service machinery to ensure operating efficiency, using water, gasoline, lubricants, and/or hand tools. • You must be able to wear all required and assigned personal protective equipment at all times when required to do so. • You must possess requisite physical strength and endurance to repeat the mixing and spraying process throughout the workday, working quickly and skillfully to perform activities for which you were hired.
