I am starting a blog where I hope to help students with math and computer programming. Please feel free to contact me on my blog and send me questions. I am a novice programmer. JavaScript, Python, Java in that order. Your questions will guide my writing on my blog. I teach math at the middle school and high school level at a great small private school. I check my blog regularly, but not every day. I hope to teach computer programming when I am proficient enough. I seek to help students who have difficulty with math. I am convinced students have trouble with math because teachers do not teach well enough. Teaching a few examples and giving homework is not enough. I have done 40 or more examples in a lesson. Teach why, teach thinking, really explain. Give one question quizzes until everyone earns a 100% before giving homework. Go over every error on these quizzes in detail. Teaching is not a race. Teach at the speed of every student's success. It takes more time at the beginning, but by the end of the year students learn much faster. My students who can do Number Logic puzzles have never failed a TAKS, STAAR or EOC Exam in over 10 years. I tell parents to take away all a student's priveleges if they have a B in my class. B stands for Bad. I seek students who have failed a year or more in school. I use Texas Tech ISD ( https://www.depts.ttu.edu/k12/ ), but am always looking for a better solution. Texas Tech ISD will help students who desire to get double promoted or live in areas where a school is far from them. I have been a school administrator in New Mexico and Texas. I seek to help students who need grade level recovery. Students who need to improve your ASVAB score. Students seeking a GED. As a old disabled veteran, I seek to help others who desire to serve. I wish I stayed in and retired. Please keep America out of stupid wars. I have seen too many disabled veterans including my daughter who was shot down in a helecopter in Afganistan. She survived, but broke her back, hip and her legs are scared. She fights constant pain. If we are attacked, I would fight today. I seek to talk about learning programming. How are you learning to program? Do you use a particular website, book etc... to learn like https://edabit.com/ or https://www.codecademy.com/ I desire to develop educational software when my skills improve.
