Transfer Patient from Bed to Shower Chair and Wash in Shower (Or Bedbath) 2. Dry Patient and Transfer Back Into Bed 3. Check Patient’s Skin Health (Pressure Sores, Cuts, Wounds) Apply Bandages and Dressing to Wounds if necessary 4. Dress Patient and Transfer into Wheel Chair 10:00 AM 1. Provide Daily Morning Medication 2. Assist Patient with Morning Hygiene Activities a. Drain Urostomy (Urine) into Recepticle, Dump and Clean b. Remove / Replace Colostomy Supplies and Discard c. Brush Teeth 10:30 AM 1. Prepare Coffee and Morning Meal 2. Get Patient Situated for the Day Mid-Day 1. House Duties as Needed a. Wash / Fold Patient Laundry b. Clean Maintain House c. Run Errands / Get Groceries Etc... 2. Drive Patient As Needed a. Errands / Work / Medical Appointments 3. Assist Patient As Needed a. Food, Drinks, Snacks b. Drops / Spills c. Stay on Top of Urostomy / Colostomy d. Various Other Tasks 4. Free Time Evening 1. Prepare Meal for Patient (If Needed) 2. Drain Urostomy / Colostomy As Needed 3. Provide Evening Medication 4. Transfer Patient to Bed 5. Assist Patient As Needed During the Night Job Description: We are looking for one live-in caretaker in order to assist a C-4 quadriplegic patient. You would be responsible for 5 days of patient care per week, with the assistance of the patient’s son who also lives in the home. There is flexibility to leave during midday and evening free time as long as patient can be covered for times that you will be gone for more than 30 minutes. You will be completely off the other two days of the week and patient duties will be performed by others. Days off are usually Saturday / Sunday but might be moved around depending on patient need. Most of the time the job is pretty straight forward and routine but there will be occasional unpleasant job duties. The job is easy most days but can be extremely difficult and frustrating on others. For example, sometimes the Colostomy does not cooperate and will leak feces over patient, bedding, and / or wheelchair. Sometimes you will be up several times during the night to adjust patient due to spasms. When night spasms are happening often and begin to disrupt sleep, caretaker will alternate nights with the patient’s son. The live-in caretaker will be expected to act professional during unpleasant times and perform job duties to a high level. We are looking for someone clean, courteous, and reliable that can complete the job duties described above. It is a big endeavor to bring an employee into our home. We are looking to welcome someone friendly who will enjoy spending time with us, and will responsibly take an interest in the patients life. After successfully completing the interview process, live-in caretaker will be trained and taught how to assist patient and perform job duties. There will be an initial probation period of two weeks before you can make a full move into our home. We would like to start training and hiring someone as soon as possible. Application Process: 1.
