With a buzz that hit all over Southern California, it created pride that’s been desperately needed within our adjoining cities. Achieved by perseverance, passion, and hard work, a foodie event like no other was born in our beloved desert. Thousands of connections were made through those events, and so many were left optimistic about the future of our home. We eagerly planned the next event as soon as the last one ended. Our best laid plans were soon left in an indefinite hiatus. Where are we now? Nearly a year into a pandemic, without direction, the world awaits an opportunity to go back to that time. As time presses, businesses flail with dwindling hopes that help will come. And yet, while the many have no choice but to succumb to the times, others fight on. Through means of social media, word of mouth, and delivery services- food trucks, home cooks, and restauranteurs pushed through stay-at-home orders to fend for families and themselves. That too was done with perseverance, passion, and hard work in the face of stacked odds. Pushing and surviving does not come without its scars. Our hearts, and minds are taxed and we all have different burdens to bear. That makes the need for stimulation that much higher, and like you we’re tired of watching tv. We need the kind of engagement that comes from eating and conversation. This year, with that same determination, perseverance, and hard work we will bring our food fest back to the High Desert.
