Our church needs part-time help with facilities set-up and maintenance. Schedule will include weekends and some weekday hours. Setting up rooms for events and doing light repairs and maintenance (not custodial) are the primary responsibilities. Job Duties • Follows all safety procedures and regulations. • Set up chairs, tables and ancillary equipment for Sunday services and occasional weekday events. • Performs specific carpentry, plumbing, painting, electrical, appliance repair, HVAC, and other general maintenance duties in a safe and proper manner • Performs scheduled preventative maintenance. • Maintains all storage facilities, equipment and the maintenance workshop in a neat and orderly working condition. • Regularly provides information to the Minister of Church Operations regarding safety concerns and the general appearance of the church property. • Retrieves and dispenses of any visible trash or garbage on the property in route to work assignments. • Performs other duties as assigned. Technical/Professional Knowledge (Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience) • Perform maintenance related tasks. • Effective oral and written communication skills. • Provide exceptional customer service. • Operate hand tools. • Knowledge of Safety procedures. • Basic computer skills preferred. Work Environment The Church Handyman works on-site at a multi-building church campus and interfaces with employees and guests on a regular basis. The position work schedule varies depending on the season. Hours will currently include some work on a weekday and some work on Saturday afternoon and/or Sunday morning. The Church Handyman should be flexible with availability depending on the needs of the church. No travel required. Physical Requirements The Church Handyman physical condition must be sufficient for the consistent and successful completion of the specific responsibilities defined for this position and for his/her performance to be in complete conformance with all professional standards defined for this position. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, talk, and hear. May be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and operate power tools. Must be able to occasionally drive during the course of work.
