Craigslist Politics...1st Response

You seem quite intelligent, and can clearly communicate without intent to insult anyone, and with desire to speak the truth as you know it, so I am not sure what you have previously written that was flagged, but I think you maybe close with your suggestion of at least slowing down the people who flag just because they disagree, not because you were inappropriate. In the last few years, people have become more impatient with viewpoints they do not agree with. We ALL should be more respectful of people we disagree with, politically, socially, or have any other differences with, but it takes BOTH people to be that way for a respectful compromise of conversation, and that has become a less likely outcome with social media allowing anonymous insults to be slung at each other. Maybe Craigslist should charge people $1 to flag any free post, but then Craigslist has to review and see if anything in the post is truly offensive, and if not, they give half of the flagger’s money to the poster and re-post it as "unflaggable"? Flaggers may not want to risk giving the poster their money. BUT, there are very big parameters that include what could be “offensive” to other people, and literally anyone could be offended by almost anything others may have to say about them, truthful or not. Then there is the definition of what IS truthful? There are many people who believe untruths, or false misrepresentations, or just don’t listen very well, and only hear part of what is said, and/or whose knee jerk reaction is to just stop listening and react angrily, because what they are hearing does not fit with their (biased) thinking how things are, or are not in the world. Everyone is biased towards one side or another, but not everyone is wrong. Who then, will be the ultimate source of truth, on this site, for all posters and flaggers? Craigslist? I don’t think they want to be caught in the middle deciding who is right and who is wrong for their participants of a political exchange, or any blog posting. They would likely lose revenue, no matter which side they pick, so it is more profitable this way to let everyone ride in the boat. They call it freedom of speech, and so, they leave it to these same people I have described to police what is posted, some of whom are just plain ignorant, which is NOT to say stupid, but just not aware of how things really work, either, politically, socially, or otherwise within all the above described ways of thinking and reasoning. I wish you luck in posting, as well as peace and health for you and your family!
