Description
So here is my story...I am 53. I have been playing in the same local band for the better part of 30+ years. We played around the valley regularly prior to COVID. I share lead vocal duties (anywhere from 15-25 songs per gig I sing lead, 40% of set list), I also play rhythm guitar, second lead guitar and play light keyboards in the tunes that require it. (although my forte is rhythm guitar and singing). My vocal range is baritone as I can sing a fair amount of the 80's style music but I don't have the range to effectively sing Journey or Queensryche type material. (sample list of songs I sing in E flat listed below for reference--we play everything a half step down). Would be great to have someone who does have a solid voice and the upper range to be able to perform that style of music... but not required. I am looking to start a new second project where everyone in the band shares the same level of interest when it comes to committing to regular practices (3-4 times a month) and showing up to practices prepared to play the song with the group to get it "gig ready". Would optimally play out approximately 2x times a month. It is very important with this project everyone who is involved have strong vocal abilities (rock solid harmonies require it), good work ethic, similar musical interests and an easy going personality with no drama. I know this is a tall order but it is what it is. I just want to make great quality music and have fun doing it. This is not an attempt to have a part time garage band play out for a few bucks on occasional weekends. This is also not a money thing either, this is a "quality of project" thing. I want people to leave our live shows wanting to come back and see us again based upon good energy and high music quality. I am a team player and open to playing 70's - 90's mainly danceable rock (or even more current) as long as the music gets our audience dancing and/or involved and the harmonies and music are locked in tight. In my current project we do many songs with our own spin on them to rock them out. I can't stress enough the importance of having strong vocals and excellent pitch as far as harmonies are concerned. I have seen many bands with solid musicians but with marginal vocals. I'm not interested in that. If I am putting the time in I want to be in a project with the full package. Sample of songs I sing in my current project include but not limited to: Night Ranger (Don't Tell Me You Love Me) Def Lep (Pour Sugar) Buck Cherry (Crazy Bitch) Cult (Wildflower, Love Removal Machine) Aerosmith (Sweet Emotion) Scorpions (Rock you Like a Hurricane, Tainted Love) Van Halen (You Really Got Me, Aint talkin' bout Love) Iron Maiden (Wasted Years) So optimally I would like to find some drama free players that include solid bass, lead guitar who takes pride in playing leads to the record or damn close (don't want just a riffer), locked in drums (and maybe even another guitar player who can double on keys) to finish out this project. Or.... In the event you already have an existing band that fits this bill and you think based upon what I have described I might fit well in your project as a singer sharing some lead vocal duties, rhythm player singing backups or even light keys, etc. then feel free to reach out with a quick email and we'll see if our interests and skill set are a good fit. I have a full space in my home set up as a practice space too....full PA, numerous amps, keys, electric drum kit (for sound control). I prefer to practice in my home studio or somewhere in the east valley. Thanks for reading.
