Rocky Mountain Youth Corps (RMYC) Conservation Crew Members between the ages of 18-25, operate as AmeriCorps terms of service, working on conservation projects throughout New Mexico based out of Taos, Taos Pueblo or Albuquerque. These positions require camping; applicants must be available for overnights up to 8 days throughout the duration of the season. Conservation Crews will work to safely complete trail maintenance and/or forestry/fuels reduction (chainsaw thinning) projects. Additional projects may include historic preservation, disaster relief, watershed restoration or other community improvement work. All Corpsmembers will receive both personal and professional development training such as First Aid/CPR, Mental Health First Aid, chainsaw training, financial management, and public speaking skills. Qualifications: 18 – 25 years old US Citizen Able to complete entire length of service term (March 29th-November 19th, 2021) Strong work ethic Eligible to serve a 1200 hour AmeriCorps term of service, and eligible for the 1200 stipend amount ($4,336.50) Able to work in supervised environment Camping crew: available for overnight projects Benefits: This is a 1200 hour AmeriCorps term of service, all Conservation Crew Members will receive a biweekly living stipend of $840 (before taxes) throughout the season, as well as a $4,336.50 Education Award upon successful completion of the term of service. This award can be used to pay tuition at most colleges, universities, or trade schools, or to pay off student loans already acquired. All Corps Member positions are eligible for health insurance.
