Be careful of people claiming to be pet and exotic pet rescues.

Description
Unfortunately there are a few rescues here in SD that are doing things that rescues should never do. No rescue should ever breed the animals that they take in or promise to keep every animal and never re-home them. Animals should be re-homed to proper homes at a fair and unchanging fee. People claiming that rescues are not rescues on the fact they re-home animals, are not doing what a rescue should be doing. No rescue can just keep taking in animals and never re-home them You can only fit so many animals in an area before it becomes stressful and unhealthy for the animals( this is especially true for birds). people breeding rescue animals and selling the young are just greedy and trying to make money off of your pets. By breeding these animals they are adding to the problem of their being far to many animals to begin with. People who take your animals and then re-sell them, at high fees a few days later, are thieves. These people claim to rescue animals and then never take them to a vet, or even evaluate them, and then turn around and sell them a day or two later at market price or higher. None of the animals that we keep want to be pets. reptiles and birds are very easy money for pet flippers and breeders, pretending to be rescues. I run Creepy Crawlies reptile and exotics rescue and am willing to help you with whatever you need, free of charge. A long standing rescue tradition, and my mentor, Sue Miller at Krusin Kritters rescue has over 40 years rescue experience and always tries to do what is best for every pet situation. She is also a very good option. I work with many other in-home rescues and volunteer fosters, that do rescue for the love of the animals and not to make a profit. So even if I do not have room for an animal, I can probably find someone who does. Also remember, just because a rescue has a 501c license, that in no way makes them a good rescue. 501c means they are tax exempt and not that they have the slightest clue what they are doing. 501c does not mean that they have to follow any rules as far as selling or breeding animals and really does not mean they are governed in any way. The only thing 501c means is that they had the time and money to go through the system and become tax exempt and legally can take donations. I am not saying that all 501c rescues are bad, but many of them just use this status to cheat the system and people out of their hard earned cash. If anyone needs any other recommendations, about re-homing or even caring for your loved pets, feel free to email me and I will find the info you need and will email you back. There are a lot of people out there that care about nothing but themselves and what they want. Please do not make your pets lives a part of that. Thank you for reading, Steve
