Description

Are you, or someone you know, an adult who has experienced changes in social communication after a moderate to severe brain injury/TBI? Do you live in the state of Washington or Oregon? If so, I would love to hear from you! I am a doctoral candidate in Communication Disorders and Sciences at the University of Oregon, and I am currently looking for participants for a research study investigating a behavioral treatment program for improving social communication problems after brain injury. This research will be done remotely, so in-person meetings are not needed, but reliable internet access and a web camera for online sessions is required. I am especially looking for people who have noticed problems with interrupting others, talking too much or too little, or perspective taking in conversation after a brain injury, and who have a family member or other person close to them (an everyday communication partner) who would be willing to participate in the study together. Participation takes a total of about 9-13 hours spread across 4-6 weeks with one follow-up session a month after conclusion of the other sessions, and after completion of all sessions by both partners, you and your partner can each receive a Fred Meyer or Bi-Mart gift card (your choice) worth $100. To find out more information and see if you would qualify for this study, please contact me, Heidi Iwashita, M.S., CCC-SLP, at or .
