SOMERVILLE, MA — State police continue to search for the driver who fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian on McGrath Highway Monday night. Police posted images of the suspect vehicle, a white 2014-2021 Ford Transit Connect. The van stands out from other vehicles of its model because of the number of side windows and the large sunroof, police said. "These vans are usually outfitted as utility vehicles without side windows or a sunroof," a state police spokesperson wrote in an email. "The vehicle will most likely have damage to the driver side headlight area (bumper, hood, and/or fender)." The hit-and-run happened around 8:40 p.m. Monday, leaving a 72-year-old Somerville man with life-threatening injuries. Police said the victim was coming from the nearby Stop & Shop and was carrying several grocery bags at the time of the collision. Anyone with any information is asked to contact state police at the Medford Barracks at 781-396-0100.
