ROCKVILLE, MD — Rockville officials have extended the public comment period for the city's FY 2022 budget. Written testimony should be sent to [email protected], or: Mayor and CouncilCity Hall111 Maryland Ave.Rockville, MD 20850 The mayor and council are scheduled to vote Monday, May 10 on the adoption of the proposed operating budget and Capital Improvements Program for FY 2022, which begins July 1. Per a Rockville press statement: The proposed budget addresses financial pressures on the Rockville community due to the COVID-19 pandemic. On Feb. 22, City Manager Rob DiSpirito presented a proposed operating budget of $139.7 million, which is a decrease of less than 1% from the FY 2021 adopted budget. The Mayor and Council discussed several changes to the FY 2022 proposed revenue and expenditure budget during a March 22 work session. These changes include increased revenues from income tax, building rental and tax duplication. On the expenditure side, the Mayor and Council gave direction to fund regular employee merits/steps, a temporary employee minimum wage equal to $15 per hour, partial restoration of employee travel and training funds, and a full website redesign.
