Shelter In Place Order For Gaithersburg After Shots Fired: Police

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Shots were fired at Gaithersburg Police officers when they were called to an apartment building about a parking hazard. The gunfire was reported about 3 p.m. Wednesday. No injuries have been reported. Officers were dispatched to an apartment at 392 N. Summit Ave. near Lakeforest Mall. As they arrived, police said they were shot at from someone at a higher elevation. Additional officers from both the Gaithersburg and Montgomery County Police Departments were sent to the scene. Police are searching for suspected shooter or shooters. "We are encouraging residents to shelter in place as this is an active scene," the Gaithersburg department tweeted about 5:30 p.m. Patch will update this breaking news story.
