COLORADO SPRINGS, CO — Thousands of patients who received their first dose of the coronavirus vaccine at a Colorado Springs clinic must now get revaccinated after the facility failed to comply with storage guidelines. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment this week said the Dr. Moma Health and Wellness Clinic failed to provide documentation of proper storage of coronavirus vaccines. As a result, more than 4,500 patients are being asked to get their first dose of the vaccine again, FOX Denver reported. "If you received one dose of Pfizer vaccine at a Dr. Moma vaccination clinic, that dose is considered invalid and you should receive two additional doses of Pfizer vaccine," a statement by officials read. Officials also canceled more than 1,000 appointments scheduled at the clinic April 10, as well as 6,000 other appointments scheduled through May 8. If a patient received the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine at Dr. Moma, they should receive a new first dose within 21 days, health officials said. If they received the Moderna vaccine, a new dose should be administered within 28 days. If patients received two doses of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, they should receive one additional dose within 21 and 28 days, respectively. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention does not recommend people get more than three doses of any COVID-19 vaccine, regardless of validity. Coloradans affected by the canceled appointments, as well as anyone still needing a vaccine, can access a full list of providers online to schedule their vaccination.
