CRANSTON, RI — About 3,200 new coronavirus vaccine appointments will be added to Rhode Island's scheduling portal at 9 a.m. Thursday, the Department of Health announced Wednesday afternoon. The new appointments will be for the mass-vaccination clinic at Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston. New appointments are usually added twice weekly, Tuesday mornings and Friday evenings. This latest batch will come a day early, since many are for Friday, the department said. The appointments were scheduled to be released Tuesday, a spokesperson for the department explained, but were held back as RIDOH worked to ensure that everyone with an appointment for a Johnson & Johnson vaccine could receive a Pfizer or Moderna dose instead. Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 844-930-1779. Vaccine eligibility is currently open in Rhode Island to residents aged 40 and older, along with those 16 and older with certain underlying health conditions, or who live in communities hardest-hit by the pandemic.
