Description
Come enjoy therapeutic art activities. Art has many therapeutic benefits such as stress and anxiety reduction. Art Therapy Are you looking for something creative or relaxing? How about both? You will experience creative activities along with techniques and methods to reduce stress/anxiety, increase motivation, explore creativity, organize your thoughts and improve memory. You will enjoy a peaceful, supportive environment and create four different types of art projects. No experience needed, just an open mind and a willingness to play and create for fun and relaxation. This Event will be held at the Avon Parkside Church of Nazarene. Each session explained May 6th Create your own vision board to help manifest your dreams and goals, but before you create your visions, we are going to play with alcohol ink and make a beautiful peaceful, and or inspiring background for your vision board. Vison boards promote motivation, concentration and reduce stress and anxiety. May 13th Have you ever wondered where creativity comes from? We will explore the concept of creativity in this workshop. We will discuss it and you will be shown some demos and then you get to enjoy the happiness of creating. Every participant will get to choose a pencil pouch with different art tools and an activity. The idea behind the different tools is for each participant to learn to create something original with the tools/activity that is unique to them and everyone else. Being creative releases chemicals in the brain which make us feel good. It also creates new brain patterns which make us smarter. May 20th Mandalas can help us center ourselves and keep us in the present by calming our thoughts. In this workshop, you will explore symbolism of colors and animal spirits and use those to create a mandala stone. Mandala stones can be used as worry stones and give our nervous hands something to hold onto which can help reduce nervous thoughts and anxiety. May 27th Learn the meditative art of Zen doodling. We all doodle things mindlessly, but in Zen doodling we will explore repetitive pattern making that creates a meditative sense of well-being. Each participant will be given tools and paper to create Zen doodles and then apply those to a journal where they may create more doodles or use it to journal in any form they prefer. Journaling organizes our thoughts and gives us a chance to reflect and examine our feelings and boost memory. DATE AND TIME May6th, May 13th, May 20th, May 27th at 6 PM EDT – 8:30 PM EDT LOCATION This Event will be held at the Avon Parkside Church of Nazarene. Right next to the Avon Town Hall Park.
