BRAINTREE, MA — There's no shortage of interesting people in Braintree. This week, get to know Robert Clarke, who was nominated by his neighbor. The neighbor said Clarke has done everything for her, from pumping her kids' bike tires to cleaning the gutters. NAME: Robert Clarke WHY SHOULD EVERYONE KNOW THIS NEIGHBOR?: Epitomizes the old school way "Neighbors" used to be and should be. Since the moment we moved in Bob and his wife Nancy have been a wonderful and comforting presence in our lives. From pumping up my kids' bicycle tires to showing my husband how to maintenance the lawnmower and snowblower to get a few extra miles out of them, to sweeping the gutters and bringing in the trash barrels up the driveway (when we have told him he doesn't have to do that). This guy is the salt of the earth and they just don't make em' like Bob anymore. All guys should take a page out of his book on how to get the snow "down to pavement" 101, and be hawk eye neighborhood watch when you're out of town for a few days. He has great stories, and it is always worth stopping for a chat and a laugh on a sunny day with Bob. Any guy who is in his 80s and gives me the heads-up when the one of our mutual favorite bands The Dropkick Murphy's are streaming a live concert is a legend and should be recognized as one! He is the pride of "Honeymoon Hill" up here on Staten Road! Please stay off the roof Bob! You've earned someone else going up there to fix a piece of blown off siding!
