Join Kern Literacy Council to celebrate National Poetry Month and empower women through literacy. It will be great to be in person again. Kern Literacy Council is thrilled to welcome friends to our first in-person event since February 2020. Proceeds from this Poetry Reading and Book Signing benefit the Build Your Own Path program that empowers women through education. Jeanette Richardson Herring and her book Dust of Shooting Stars will be featured. This is an open house type of event. Enjoy all the readings or just drop in. Jeanette will be signing books until 6 p.m. 4:00 p.m. Champagne Reception 4:30 p.m. Welcome and First Reading 5:00 p.m. Reading of Shared Poem 5:30 p.m. Final Poetry Reading Tickets are $25-$50 per person.  Sponsorships are encouraged. Jeanette Richardson Herring is an artist, with deep roots in Kern County, who expresses herself in multimedia, uniting words and images. Communicating through memoir, prose, and poetry, her art chronicles the many roles of women, as humans and creative beings. As a thinker, dreamer, and encourager, supporting and advocating for artists for many years, Jeanette takes her turn in the spotlight with this collection of deep musings and shared experiences.
