DANBURY, CT — The Democratic Town Committee has unanimously endorsed Roberto Alves for Mayor.
The announcement came during the DTC's regular monthly meeting Monday night.
"I'm honored to receive the Democratic Town Committee's endorsement. Our campaign gains momentum every day, and it's because we've shown people how serious we are," Alves said.
This endorsement comes less than a week after City Councilman At-Large Alves received a unanimous endorsement from Danbury's state delegation, including include Sen. Julie Kushner, and Representatives Bob Godfrey, David Arconti, Ken Gucker and Raghib Allie-Brennan.
"We've had over 36 volunteers help us hit over 2,000 doors, we've raised over $75,000 without an in-person event, and I was equally honored to receive the unanimous endorsement from Danbury's State Delegation. Everything we've done so far is a component of the catalyst for our success and it's exciting," Alves said. "These are the kinds of things we need to do to win, to have a Democratic Mayor, and to flip Danbury blue."
Alves is seeking his party's nomination over businessman Sedeaka Lawrence. The current mayor, Republican Joe Cavo, has not yet announced his intentions for the November race.
