Job Description The Full-Time Environmental Maintenance Assistant is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the preventative maintenance of equipment, air conditioning/heater units, appliances, carpeting, and indoor/outdoor areas. Responsible for the weekly elder and housekeeping supplies. This position will work under and in coordination with the Environmental Maintenance Superintendent. Coordinate inspections of facilities as required by Federal, State, City and County law. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: · Maintain preventative maintenance program for equipment, air conditioner, heater units, appliances, carpeting, indoor/outdoor lighting and landscaping. · Notify management timely on any equipment repairs and concerns. · Inspect all areas of the facility on a periodic basis for structural, equipment, and furniture defects and take necessary steps to correct deficiencies · Communicate with vendors to ensure required audits are conducted to maintain compliance with regulations as needed or requested. · Ensure that carpets and windows are cleaned on a periodic basis · Maintain facility grounds for temperature, beauty and safety of elders, staff & visitors as needed or requested. · Be knowledgeable of facility fire and disaster procedures and be able to assist elders and staff · Assist in maintaining required records and reports as outlined in Vista Living Care · Follow protocols to ensure facility safety and identify any harmful, dangerous or non-licensing concerns to management · Maintain appropriate inventory of Elder supplies · Maintain appropriate inventory of housekeeping supplies · Keeps up to date regarding Material Data Sheets (MSDS) as well as policy and procedures in the use of chemicals · Update Executive Director monthly on supply usage & equipment issues to control waste · Attend & participate in scheduled in-service programs, meetings, and sit on required communities · Assist in developing department procedures & policies to promote safety and company mission. · Participate in department budgeting · Assist in transportation of elders as necessary · Attend and participates in scheduled in-service programs and staff meetings · Demonstrates a positive outlook, even under challenging and changing conditions · Assist Executive Director and Environmental Director with tasks and projects assigned · Creates a wholesome, fun and caring atmosphere by being part of the energy and enthusiasm of Vista & our Team Qualifications: · Must be at least 18 years of age · Ability to read and understand directions. · High school graduate or equivalency (G.E.D.) preferred, but not required. · Must have two years of experience in a related capacity with working knowledge of maintenance, housekeeping and laundry procedures. · Must be able to speak, write and understand English. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. · Must be able to communicate with supervisor, co-workers and elders. · Must show patience, tact, compassion, enthusiasm and positive attitude toward the elderly. Physical Demands- Exerting 51-100 pounds of force occasionally, and up to 25-50 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Along with all the following: Walking Stooping/Crouching Inside/Outside Sitting Grasping Hot/Cold Temperature Standing Color Determination Varying Noise Levels Reaching Speaking English Contact With Others
