If you are looking to expand your musical vocabulary, reduce the stress of playing bass on your body, and grow your musicality and technique, look no further! I have been playing both upright and electric bass for 15 years, which is more than half of my time alive! I have maintained a private lesson studio on-and-off for the last 5 years. My formal training is in classical playing and I have professional experience in musical theatre, jazz, funk, South American (salsa, cumbia, and other genres), and bluegrass playing. My teaching pulls from all of these genres and also incorporates a physical wellness approach. Many beginning bassists are taught one-sized-fits-all technique and handling of the instrument, which leads to many problems down the road. A combination of musical literacy, technique, and raw expression are required to really bring out the groove, which is what I always aim to impart in lessons. I enjoy working with all skill levels, aged 10 and up. Whether you are just starting, or looking to climb to a new plateau, the world is always better off with more bassists!
