TUSCALOOSA, AL — Ballots will be cast in two runoff races for seats on the Tuscaloosa City Council today and Patch will be following along all day reporting from the campaign trail. Polling places will only be open in District's 1 & 6, as all other race, including for mayor of Tuscaloosa, were decided in March. Click here to subscribe to our free daily newsletter and breaking news alerts District 1 Candidates: Que Chandler & Matthew Wilson Registered voters: 7,295 Ballots cast on March 2: 1,383 Polling location: TDOT Building Auditorium - 1000 28th Avenue, Tuscaloosa. Tale of the Tape: Wilson — a pastor and District 1's representative on the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education — received 608 votes on March 2, while Chandler pulled in 447 to force the three-candidate race to a runoff. An outspoken community activist, Chandler was narrowly defeated in a 2017 runoff by Wilson for the District 1 school board seat. In that runoff race, Wilson received 382 votes to Chandler's 310. The winner will take the seat vacated by District 1 Councilwoman Phyllis Wade Odom, who chose to not seek re-election. Tale of the Tape: Retired Tuscaloosa Police Department Captain John Faile will look to unseat two-term incumbent Councilman Eddie Pugh after garnering the most votes (939) in the March 2 Municipal Election.
