Description
WORCESTER, MA — State police will operate a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Worcester County this weekend, according to department officials.
The checkpoint will operate "during varied hours" on Friday and Saturday. State police typically only announce the general area where a checkpoint will take place.
"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," state police said in a news release.
The checkpoint is being funded by a grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Highway Division.
