Yes... By all means legalize it. I have not smoked pot since I was a teenager (35 yrs). I have no interest in smoking again. But I fully support legalizing it at a nation al level. Here is why: 1. Pot is far less destructive to society than alcohol. People do not get in bar fights or beat on their spouse while stoned. 2. Our courts are overwhelmed with marijuana cases. The expense of enforcing marijuana laws is astronomical. 3. Pot has therapeutic qualities. 4. Unless I am behind the wheel of an auto, it is the of our government’s business what I ingest. 5. Pot would provide a new source of tax revenue. 6. Legalizing pot would take power and funding away from gangs and cartels. 7. Pot industry will create jobs. 8. People in this nation are wound very tight. Access to marijuana might mellow this nation out a bit. 9. There is no “down side” to legalizing pot. Forced to choose, I would rather have a stoned Driver on the road behind me than a drunk driver. Neither is good, but a stoned driver is much safer. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The pot today is much stronger then it was 35 years ago. Drug addiction is very destructive to society. Courts are not overwhelmed with pot cases. There are many down sides to legalizing drugs. The answer is to tax the shit out of it and use the money to open free drug rehab clinics to get people off of drugs. There is no desire to do this.
