and there are many down sides to keeping them illegal. families torn apart, property confiscated, prison industrial complex growing, people shot in drug raids, pets shot in drug raids, kids terrorized in drug raid, loss of income, drug cartels become more rich and powerful, they use the war on drugs to undermine our constitutional rights and strip us of them. It is so bad that our freedom now is in the hands of what a damn dog smells. Abe Lincoln said it best when he said " a war on drugs goes against our rights as a people, and against free people, makin crimes out of things that should not be crimes by trying to regulate a man appetite " I say if the drug war is about safety, like they claim, then drugs should be manufactured at doses that are safe for those who use them to use. After all, the only people who do drugs are people who do drugs. as for pot ? pot is one of the safest substances on earth, with 0 overdose deaths recorded in the last 10,000 years of human consumption. With tobacco killing 480,000 Americans every year, booze another 80,000. I find kind of odd that this war on drugs is funded by the tobacco and alcohol commission. I reckon that it isn't so much that they care about people being strung out on drugs as much as it is who's drugs it is people are strung out on. The top 5 contributors to keeping pot / drugs illegal are..... private prisons, big tobacco, prison unions, big pharma, big alcohol. They fill the coffers of our elected officials, using their cash to turn americans into criminals, turning us against one another, turning our neighbors against us. We American have to decide. We are either free, or we are drug free. If it weren't for the cannabis/cannabis hemp plant, America would have never survives as a nation. The first laws in the 1600's pertaining to cannabis were, you could go to jail for not growing it when the government ordered the citizens to grow it. Cannabis back them wasn't even called " cannabis or Marijuana " in America. It was called " hemp, and sweet hemp ". Hemp for industrial uses and our military and uniforms and sails and covered wagons, and our navy, and street light oil, etc etc. Sweet hemp for medical uses and recreational use. The longest war in Americas history is the drug war, where our own government uses our cash to wage war on its own people, killing us, caging us, destroying our families
