Description
Seeking one vocalist-instrumentalist who'd be interested in joining a unique group. We're only looking for someone who does both (but not necessarily at the same time, so a wind player is more than welcome.) If you are a vocalist but don't play another instrument it just won't work for us. If you're a guitarist, we only have room for professional level lead guitar techniques across multiple genres. Otherwise, we've got that covered.
This group has the vocal harmony chops of a great a cappella group but we also play arrangements that include instruments. Think Manhattan Transfer and the great vocal groups of the 40s and 50s. We play a wide variety of genres so you should have VERY broad musical tastes, including jazz, show tunes, pop, world music, etc.
Some basic requirements: Intermediate or better competence on your instruments, dedication to practicing your craft (if you don't feel guilty when you miss a day of practice, you're not a good fit), ability to learn parts reasonably quickly and passion for the project.
Some helpful things: ability to sing in other languages, ability to improvise, ability to arrange, directing experience, videography and recording experience, ability to dance and move, business acumen.
Irrelevant things: age, race, gender, sexual preference, etc.
We currently have bass, guitar, piano, sax, hand percussion and viola covered. Vocally, we've got everything except tenor covered. We're looking for someone in that male pop singer voice range. If you're an alto, you should be able to get down and gritty in your low range (like Etta James).
We've produced a handful of recordings this winter, and if you contact me with your email address, I'll send you a link to a dropbox for you to listen to them.
If you're interested, please drop me a line so we can discuss. We've yet to meet face to face because of Covid, but we expect that to change shortly.
Thanks for reading through this, and good luck with your musical endeavors.
Erik
