ELM is seeking Riser Technicians to work in the Salt Lake City, UT area. As a Riser Technician, your primary responsibility will be to drive to residential areas to check meters for rust and corrosion, and to ensure that regulator vents are not obstructed. You will also be responsible for painting any rusted or corroded sections. You must be able to safely inspect Meter Set Assembly and/or deal with any object, including animals on the property that could prevent the employee from completing inspection. The seasonal hours will be approximately from March through November each year. Your specific duties in this role will include: • Daily contact with supervisor, homeowners and contractors to discuss meter issues • Ability to operate a laptop computer with CD drive • Prioritize work on a daily basis to determine most efficient method of routing • Completing all necessary paperwork and documentation • Walking in residential neighborhoods to inspect meters • Maintaining equipment to the highest levels of performance possible, this includes but is not limited to equipment, computer, radio and vehicle • Completing maintenance reports for purpose of quality control • Observing all safety rules and regulations GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for Riser Technicians who combine a solid work ethic and the ability to self-manage with a firm commitment to safety. You must also be comfortable working in an outdoor setting, walking significant distances each day in all types of weather, and dealing with all manner of field hazards. It is also important that you have exceptional verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, and that you are able to interact with people in a friendly and professional manner. Specific qualifications for the position include: • High School Diploma or GED • Ability to walk up to 5 miles a day in all weather conditions • Ability to bend/stoop/kneel/crawl • Valid driver’s license with a good motor vehicle record • Ability to efficiently manage your daily schedule • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills • Flexibility and temperament to adapt to sudden challenges and changing work conditions • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug screens • Knowledge of your assigned geographic region, preferred • Computer proficiency and the ability to use GPS/mapping systems, preferred • Prior experience is a plus • Experience scheduling your own work on a daily basis is a plus • Ability to read and decipher maps • Experience in delivery or route driving involving production quotas is a plus SELECTION PROCESS: When considering applicants for this position, the selection process will take into consideration the needs of the Company, including such factors as reorganization requirements, diversity opportunities, relocation requirements, employee development and job succession.
