"Teddy Bear" Dog Needs New Home

Whiskey, our neutered and hypoallergenic 4.5-year-old male Shih-Tzu / Bichon Frise mix (15 lbs) needs a new home! Whiskey has been a beloved part of our family since we got him as a puppy in 2016, but since our financial situation has changed we are seeking to rehome him with a new family. Before re-homing Whiskey with your family, we will need to: -Contact your current or most recent veterinarian for a reference. -Visit Whiskey’s potential new home to ensure it is an appropriate place for him. -Schedule a meet-and-greet for Whiskey and his potential new family. -A small adoption/rehoming fee to ensure sincere intentions. Behavior: Whiskey is cuddly, gentle, and playful with children and is great with our toddler; friendly and excited with dogs; cooperative for vet, groomer, and baths; no experience with cats. Never bites or nips, virtually never barks. Whiskey loves to lounge and nap, but is also playful and interactive. He's used to having someone around much of the day, but has no problems home alone when we go out for the day. Whiskey is excited on walks and pulls the leash until he tires a bit and gets into the groove; he's had no unleashed/unsupervised outdoor time. He just squeaked by to pass his obedience training (although he’s very good with “leave it” and “sit”). Whiskey leaves alone furniture, shoes, books, toys, clothes, etc.; but he sometimes gets into open trash cans and chews on tissues and small objects (like bottle caps) if they are left in his reach unsupervised. NOTE: Whiskey is house trained with access to an ***indoor turf pad***; he doesn’t always have great aim so requires pee puddle clean-ups around his pad; he also leaks a little piddle when very excited (e.g., when a visitor bends down to play). Health: Up-to-date on check-ups and all vaccines; seasonal allergies (daily OTC allergy pill as needed, uses sensitive shampoo/conditioner); requires regular toothbrushing (due to crooked teeth). Whiskey is used to eating his favorite brand of dry food 3x/day (flexible times), plus tiny nibbles of yummy things we are eating that are dog-friendly.
