WE NEED YOU! - Volunteer to Preserve Connecticut History!
The Connecticut Air & Space Center, a 501(c)3 non-profit Air Museum is seeking volunteers to assist in daily museum activities (Sat-Sun) and help share Connecticut's unique shared cultural aviation heritage with visitors young and old alike!
Stratford Connecticut has a rich aviation heritage. From early flight experiments by aviation pioneer Gustave Whitehead, to the design and production of the legendary WWII-era F4U Corsair fighter plane, to the world standard quality of Sikorsky Helicopters, to the Gas-Turbine Engines of Avco-Textron-Lycoming that powered many helicopters, planes, and tanks, few locations can boast such a rich and diverse legacy.
On May 29, 2021 the Connecticut Air & Space Center will open a portion of the historic Curtiss Hangar to the public as a “mini-museum”, complete with aircraft and exhibits on display. The 1929-era Curtiss Hangar which saw visits from aviation icons such as: Igor Sikorsky, Amelia Earhart, Charles Lindbergh, Juan Trippe, Howard Hughes, and others, is considered by many aviation authorities as one of the first cradles of aviation.
We need volunteers to work in our museum as part of our staff every weekend Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Duties can include:
- Admission Desk / Kiosk
- Gift Shop Purchases
- Docent / Tour Guide
- Security
- Exhibit Design / Assistance
- Marketing / Advertising
Come be a part of that history as the Connecticut Air & Space Center, after two decades of work, opens fully to the public and displays restored aircraft, equipment, and aviation historical displays.
