Our client is seeking applicants to fulfill the position of Construction Lead Estimator in Montgomery, AL. Applicants must have at least 10+ years of estimating experience with large Federal Government projects ranging from $5M -$25M. Applicants must be able to fulfill the following responsibilities as directed by the Owner or Operations Manager: Must be proficient in Sage/Timberline Estimating software. Proficient in Design Build (D/B) process Develops, maintains and coordinates positive working relationships with Architect and/or Engineer firms to facilitate the design process in preparation for the D/B proposals. Coordinates the D/B team to development successful project bid documents and narratives. Willing to travel as needed to Pre-proposal site visits in the Southeastern United States Prepare each estimate including general conditions (with input from management), special conditions as apply per State, insurance and bonds, etc. Full review of Government issued D/B/B documents for a complete understanding of RFP and contract document requirements to determine needed clarifications of proposal forms, drawings, specifications and all other construction documents. Submission of Pre-Proposal RFIs requiring proficient skills in Microsoft Office Suite, not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel Monitor and direct assistant estimators. Provides technical support to assistant estimates for assigned divisions. Oversees assistant estimators in soliciting subcontractor/vendor pricing information. Monitor BuildingConnected ITB for each geographic region to successfully create subcontractor/material supplier invitation to bid lists. Take the lead in the solicitation process to ensure proper bid coverage. Prepare bid packages, obtain and analyze bids from subcontractors and material vendors. Have a working knowledge of material unit costs, systems square foot costs and total building square foot costs. Ensure that an adequate and proper number of documents are available for estimating the project prior to bid date. Ability to Estimate multiple projects concurrently during Federal Government fourth quarter Lead the pre-construction turnover meeting with project managers clarifying the approach to the project or estimate. REQUIREMENTS B.S. in Building Science or Engineering and 8 years of construction-related experience preferred. OR 10+ years of construction-related experience Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite Must be proficient in Estimating software or Excel Must have a thorough understanding of all construction divisions associated with Federal Government general construction Request For Proposal (RFP)
