Description
These ten days of daily meditations will explore ultimate truth, emptiness, focusing on its practical application to daily life. The teachings and meditations given on this course will explore practical applications of Buddha's teachings on the ultimate nature of reality, or emptiness. Upon investigating ultimate truth, we discover that the source of all problems and unhappiness cannot be found outside our mind. By gaining personal experience of emptiness in our daily activities, we can develop a deep and stable inner peace that is not disturbed by changing external conditions. Eventually we will attain the permanent inner peace of nirvana and enlightenment. This special course will run for two weeks, with a teaching on a different aspect of emptiness from the book Modern Buddhism by Venerable Geshe Kelsang Gyatso Rinpoche given on each day. After the teaching, Gen Rinzin will guide a meditation then conclude with advice on how to practice throughout the day. Sessions will be 35 minutes long. Recordings of the week 1 sessions will be available through Sunday, May 16; recordings of the week 2 sessions will be available through Sunday, May 23. About the TeacherGen Kelsang Rinzin was ordained as a Buddhist monk in 2004 and taught at Heruka Buddhist Center in Fort Collins for 15 years. He was appointed to the Resident Teacher position at Kadampa Meditation Center Washington in October 2020.
