Perform custodial duties such as clean classrooms, offices, restrooms, kitchen, and other areas of assigned buildings in the District. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include any of the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *Clean and maintain building and equipment. *Clean, sweep, vacuum, and shampoo carpeting and floors. *Mop, scrub, and wax floors. *Empty trash cans and replace liners. *Clean woodwork, walls and windows. *Sanitize and deodorize restrooms; fill dispensers. *Clean kitchen and clean and dust offices. *Lock and unlock doors; turn lights on and off. *Set up classrooms, cafeteria, and other areas; prepares and sets up for concerts, assemblies, and events as needed. *Keep equipment and supplies in working order; request supplies as needed. *Move office and building furniture and equipment. *Report malfunction of restroom fixtures and light fixtures, or damage to room and furnishings to supervisor. *Replace light bulbs. *Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS: *Knowledge of cleaning equipment, products, techniques, and standards. *Skill in using cleaning products and equipment. *Skill in verbal and written communication. *Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. *Ability to verify receiving invoices, control inventory and assist in handling shipping carts as directed by the supervisor. PHYSICAL EFFORT: *Bend, stoop, lift, climb *Lift, move, or carry up to 80 pounds of materials *Climb to various heights and work in confined spaces *Operate large and small power driven machinery such as vacuum, sweeper, buffer or other similar equipment
