This recruitment is to establish a hiring eligibility list of qualified candidates to fill future vacancies as a temporary Utility Worker. The list will be in effect for up to six months with possible extensions. Accordingly, candidates interested in employment with the Contra Costa Water District in the temporary Utility Worker classification for up to the next 12 months should complete the required application and supplemental questionnaire. Please be advised that temporary employees are employed on an hourly basis with no benefits other than paid sick leave. The actual number of hours that you may work is dependent upon the business needs of the District but will not exceed 6 months. There is no minimum number of hours that you will work. Under close supervision, performs a variety of unskilled, skilled and semi-skilled tasks required in the installation, repair and maintenance of facilities generally within the boundaries of the District. The duties of this classification involve work which is physical in nature and requires familiarity with general laborer tasks. Some independent judgment and initiative is required. A Utility Worker may be required to operate some types of mobile and general construction equipment and vehicles, may work alone or as a member of a crew. Scores from the written exam will be blended with the scores from the application and supplemental question responses. Candidates scoring the highest on the blended score will be invited to participate in the next step. All candidates will be notified of their status via email by no later than Tuesday, May 4, 2021. The TENTATIVE Written Examination date is Monday, May 10, 2021. Candidates scoring the highest on the blended score from the written exam, application, and supplemental questions, will be invited to the next step, the performance exam and interview.
