Description
At an auto repair shop, the shop porter is the employee who is assigned primary responsibility for caring for the shop and the cars in it. Shop porter duties include cleaning/detailing cars, performing light maintenance in the shop, cleaning bays/equipment, shuttle service for customers, and other tasks as instructed by managers. Porters do a bit of everything to keep the shop running cleanly and smoothly. Similar to custodians, porters work to make sure that all types of buildings are clean, free from clutter and safe. Porters spend a part of their day picking up trash, sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms and break-rooms. In addition, porters might run shop errands for employers, deliver items, pick up parts at the supplier, shuttle customers and maintain stock.
