The Furniture Bank of Metro Atlanta is a donor-based 501(c)3 that collects furniture from the community and redistributes it to individuals and families coming out of homelessness, fleeing domestic violence, or living with HIV/AIDS, as well as countless others who are struggling to make ends meet. We are seeking a full-time driver to operate a 26-foot box truck. The ideal candidate is flexible, patient, and good at multi-tasking. This is a very physical role that requires creative problem solving and the ability to complete tasks efficiently with little to no supervision on a daily basis. As a driver leading a team in the field, the candidate must be ready to step into an assertive, supervisory role immediately. The Furniture Bank is a small, tight-knit staff that helps over 5,000 individuals in the Atlanta area annually. We work hard every single day to meet our lofty goals, but we also have a lot of fun in the process. The right person to join our team is can achieve goals and exceed expectations in a fun and flexible work environment. Job duties include but are not limited to: 1. Availability Monday through Friday (07:30 AM-4:00 PM shift) 2. Safely operate a 26-foot box truck 3. Conduct pickups at individual donors’ homes and places of business 4. Conduct deliveries at our clients’ homes 5. Properly load furniture onto trucks using ratchet straps and cargo blankets so furniture reaches the destination without damage 6. Work quickly to stay within timeframes for each stop on the daily route 7. Supervise crew while in the field and serve as the face of the Furniture Bank to the public 8. Manage any donor or client issues in the field and escalate to proper manager if necessary 9. Work in the warehouse to supervise unloading, inventory placement, and basic warehouse upkeep/tasks 10. Properly and completely fill out necessary forms and paperwork 11. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds 12. Ability to use dash mounted GPS unit 13. Occasionally work special events on nights and weekends 14. Complete any other necessary and related tasks as assigned by manager Job qualifications/necessary skills: 1. Valid Georgia driver’s license (no CDL required) 2. Good driving record/clean MVR 3. Ability to pass a DOT physical 4. Experience as a route driver – at least 1 year of experience is strongly preferred 5. Capability and willingness for hard, physically demanding work 6. Strong communication skills 7. Punctuality and reliability 8. Creative problem solving and analytical thinking 9. Ability to work efficiently and complete tasks with little supervision
