Insect studies for rural properties

Events

Berkeley CA

Description

University of CA researchers are looking for rural / wildland properties where they can collect insects. No money is involved, but property owners get to know a lot more about these fascinating and diverse creatures; they always find results enjoyable. Activities include simple searching, collecting with nets, and setting up various kinds of traps. All specimens are deposited in the Essig museum at UC Berkeley, where they are accessible for study by scientists worldwide. Properties need to be at least a few acres with mostly natural vegetation. Creeks and other bodies of water are a plus. We are interested in all areas of CA from coast to desert and adjacent portions of other states. We do not need to stay on the property and our activities do not cause damage. Please reply to this ad if you know of a likely property, or if you would like more information.
