Dog Playgroup Supervisor & Dog Van Driver
Jobs
Georgetown PA
Description
I am looking for someone to help me 1 - 2 days/week 5+/- hrs/day with my Doggie Playgroup business. Doggie Playgroups are a modified version of Doggie Daycare. Instead of people bringing their dogs to me, I go and pick up the dogs in a specially outfitted van for dogs. I bring them back to a fenced-in play yard in the woods where the dogs are free to do what they want; run, play, swim, dig, lounge, etc. I run two playgroups /day, M - F from 9:30 - 3:30 with 8 - 12 dogs in each group, in the rain, snow, or shine. The same dogs attend playgroup each week so the schedule remains fairly consistent. Prior to attending playgroup, all dogs go thru a behavior assessment/ temperament test to ensure that they are safe in this group environment. I do not allow dogs who are dominant or bullies. They all must 'play well with others'. I take care of about 100 dogs/week. MUSTS for this job: * Love dogs - that's a given. * Have experience working with dogs and be comfortable working with groups of both large and small dogs. You need to be intuitive about dogs, to be able to read their body language and understand what they are trying to tell you and the other dogs. * Be willing to get dirty or grossed out. Dogs get wet and dirty and must get cleaned up before they go home. Dogs do disgusting things sometimes and I have to clean up. * Be physically able to handle multiple dogs at one time as well as large, strong dogs. This is a physical job. * Some of these dogs have a lot of energy; you must be able to maintain that you are the boss. * Be willing to work when it's raining or snowing as well as when it's sunny and gorgeous. The dogs don't care about the weather. * Be able to work set a day/s M - F from 9:30 - 3:30. * Live somewhat near Sewickley and have a reliable car. * Pass a background check and provide references * Be a good driver & have a clean driving record. * Be able to drive a van with crazy, happy, barking dogs inside. * Have good common sense and attention to detail. * Once trained you must be able to function with minimal supervision. I am not always around. * Be reliable, polite, and exhibit a professional appearance and attitude. You will be interacting with clients on a daily basis. I CANNOT STRESS THIS POINT ENOUGH. This is not the job for you just because you love dogs: there is A LOT of responsibility other than playing with dogs. At least half of the time is spent picking up and dropping off dogs. So being able to drive with a bunch of dogs in the van is just as important as being with them in the play yard. I started my business 12 years ago because I love working with dogs. I have many rescue dogs of my own and I do a lot with several rescue organizations. This passion for dogs shows in my attitude about my work/business and my clients love that about me; it's why I am successful at what I do. So it is important that you come into this job with the same attitude and passion for dogs. This job is a great way to earn $ doing something that you really enjoy. You will fall in love with each and every one of the 40+ dogs that I take care of. They will feel like your own dogs and they will love you as if they were your own as well. My clients will embrace you as a close friend because you are caring for their beloved, furry family members. Compensation will depend upon your experience and qualifications. As you show proficiency in the job, your pay will increase. If you meet all of the above criteria then please send me an e-mail telling me about yourself including your dog experience, why you think you are qualified, etc, where you live, and your availability. This job is really fun but hard work. DO NOT RESPOND IF YOU DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIA. IF YOU DO NOT PROVIDE THE INFO I AM REQUESTING, I WILL NOT RESPOND TO YOUR APPLICATION.
